Exploring Growth at the Airport
Interest in developing and expanding operations at the Pemberton Regional Airport has continued to be expressed by aviation enthusiasts and businesses. More recently, the awarding of the 2010 Olympic Games to Vancouver/Whistler has sparked great interest from the federal and provincial government, other stakeholders in the area and two international air carriers regarding the possibility of developing air access to the region as an alternative to road transportation. A previously commissioned study clearly indicated that Pemberton is the only option in the Squamish-Lillooet region for air access development.
